The He-Man as well as the Masters of deep space franchise debuted in 1982 with the production of American company Mattel as well as the toyline of the same name. This is a checklist of characters that appear in the toyline, television collection He-Man as well as the Masters of deep space, The New Adventures of He-Man, Masters of the Universe vs. The Snakemen and also Masters of the Cosmos: Revelation, as well as movies The Secret of the Sword, He-Man & She-Ra: A Xmas Special, as well as Masters of deep space.
Snake man! Not exactly a name that generates the same atmosphere as, say, spider-man. It just seems, at first glance, like a little scary. Especially when you see the character model - a man unsafe snake in a pair of tights marketed for children. It's a fundamental misstep of the German Dososoft video game developer. A new company, they entered the stage in 2020, their stated goal is to create fun and colorful games inspired by 8 and 16-bit games. The comparison with Super Mario is quite obvious, even if the marketing material refers to Metroidvania.
Snake Man has traveled from his native world - simply called Snake planet - to save the land of a deadly invasion. It's a great story for one man, even if he is a snake man. So, what is his first task assigned? Find a disappeared dog. To be honest, many great adventures started from small beginnings. The young players will probably accept this story with little scruples, but the most demanding will probably rise to heaven. So Snake Man launches his quest, making friends along the way, fighter enemies - a variety of mushrooms, bats, spiders, snails, birds and boss creatures. There are also extraterrestrial creatures that are very similar to the wicked Pacman games.
There are four levels that Snake Man must navigate to accomplish his mission and although they are mostly generic - forest, desert, caves - there is a lunar level. On the technical level for the presentation, Dososoft gets high notes. Character models, without Snake Man, are colored and cute. They also have a striking likeness with the characters of the PBS Arthur series.
The leading / platform areas are hand drawn in a style similar to the platform games formerly. The backgrounds are treated differently and strikingly. These are photo-realistic environments made of parallax layers to create a 3D effect. Recalls a lot the effect created by viewmaster slides. The game's look is his main strength. It's a very nice game visually.
Snake Man begins with only a jump capacity. The game can be played with a keyboard or joystick although a joystick is highly recommended. Although the game looks great, unfortunately, it controls very badly. There is incredibly rebutting float at jump action. You can almost levitate. I suspect that the jump was designed this way to make the game more accessible to children. But the opposite effect is created. The buoyancy of the jump makes the action so slow. This amplifies the difficulty of crossing the sections of the levels where a faster speed is desirable.
The slow jump is somewhat offset when you acquire a dash capacity later. However, this capacity is limited to horizontal movement only. So go vertically remains too slow. Subsequent power-ups, in addition to the dash, include a double jump and an attack action that allows you to break the blocks that hinder your progress. Unfortunately, none of these additional bonuses are mentioned until you are well in the first level. It's boring especially as you can see areas that you can not access. For young players, this could lead to incredible frustration.
Power-ups are obtained by eliminating object levels such as coins and crystals. And defeat the bosses. The bosses can be unnecessarily tough because of the soft controls. In addition, you do not start with a lot of health and just two shots at the beginning of the game to kill Snake Man. The backup system is also too strict. Although the levels are not too large, the impossibility of registering at any time leads to an undesirable replay of sections due to the slow control of the orders.
Snake Man's Adventure exactly resembles what it is. A first try. Although Dososoft can control the technical aspect of things, the company needs more experience and / or creative help in the design of its games. When Snake Man stands up or slips, it's too difficult for young players and too simple narrative for the older.
