The Facility is a term used to explain a dominant team or elite that regulates a polity or a company. It might make up a closed social group that picks its own members, or established élite frameworks in specific institutions. One can describe any relatively little course or group of individuals who can exercise control as The Establishment. On the other hand, in the lingo of sociology, anybody who does not belong to The Establishment might be labelled an outsider (in contrast to an insider ). Anti-authoritarian as well as anti-establishment ideologies doubt the authenticity of establishments, also seeing their influence on culture as anti-democratic. The term in its modern sense was popularized by the British journalist Henry Fairlie, who in September 1955 in the London magazine The Spectator specified the network of noticeable, well-connected individuals as the Establishment .
