Stanley Cup (in English: Stanley Cup), first called Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup, is in North America an ice hockey trophy awarded each year since 1927 by the National Hockey League for the Team Champion. Offered by Frederick Stanley, the Stanley Cup is given for the first time in 1893 by the Trustees, two men designated by Stanley to manage the conflicts and to best protect the interests of the trophy. Between 1893 and 1914, the cup can be won in two ways: either by winning a challenge against the title champion team either by finishing the league in which this team evolves. In 1915, an agreement is found between the leaders of the largest North American leagues at the time, the National Hockey Association (ANH) and the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA): the cup Stanley rewards the winner of a final series between the best team of each league.
