No Man's Sky Reviews After 5 years Mostly positive: Other developers should (not) take an example of this
Space, the last obstacle of humanity and undoubtedly the greatest for the British developer Hello Games. The game of him no Man's Sky has skyrocketed from the deepest abysses to the hearts of the players who hated him at that time. But how did the chief developer be Murray and his team?
No Man's Sky has this story: No Man's Sky was announced for the first time at VGX 2013. Here, the developer Hello Games showed a first advance (through YouTube.com) that seemed incredible. The audience was on the moon: a sandbox made from 18 trillion planets, created by a new algorithm and with this quality: impressive.
But since the first advertisement, the developer did not play with open letters: Sean Murray, chief developer and founder of Hello Games, had embellished his description of No Man's Sky. First with the trailer, whose beautiful planets and beings were built by hand. This is what the players discovered because they discovered the Showcase planets in the game files some time after their launch.
Murray often emphasized in interviews how great he is the game of him and how many opportunities the player has to leave his footprint. He did not shuffle the promising content that did not even exist at the time of launch.
Blinded by the advertising hype, nobody doubted at that time that it could be too much for a six-person development team to fulfill all promises:
- Multiplayer
- Construction of the base
- Landing and collection of comets
- Animals interact with each other and are part of a food chain.
- Space battles
- Planets of the desert and worms as in Dune
- much more
Spoiler: None of these characteristics was included in the finished game when it was launched in August 2016.
The question is justified: How did they save Sean Murray and Hello Games this mess to be mostly positive in Steam today? ?

Steam reviews jump to very positive: That's how difficult
This is how the reviews are seen today: The overall rating of NO Man's Sky is Mostarly Positive. The latest ratings are even very positive. In your reviews on Steam (through Steam.Store), players celebrate especially the large amount of updates and the large amount of new content.
I bought it the day of the launch and waited too much. 5 years later, the developers brought as many updates that exceeded my expectations.

Two aspects for which NO Man's Sky will always be remembered: 1. How overvalued was the game and how bad appeared. 2. Despite the bad start, the developers did everything possible to save the game.

Every time I say: Okay, no Man's Sky has all the content, I no longer need to play it, I start again and discover something new and immerse myself in the infinite world.

This is what developers say about the evaluation: Pass Steam reviews of extremely negative to mostly positive is more difficult than many think, explains the director of Publications Tim Woodley. Hundreds of reviews would be needed to increase positive reviews from 20% to 21%. On the other hand, increase from 69% to 70% would require more than 10,000 reviews. Consequently, it is not surprising that some games never take off.
More about NO Man's Sky:
- This is how domestic and riding animals in Beyond
- Great update: That's why players are especially happy
- The player built an empire of drugs as in Breaking Bad
Conclusion: No Man's Sky had to stop being so good
Sean Murray and Hello Games surpassed too much with No Man's Sky. Certainly, it was not planned that the trailer assembled quickly for the VGX 2013 will trigger a wave of exaggeration so great. The team could only disappoint the fanatics who expected in Spee, which is not their fault.
But if this wave had not happened and the players would not have booked hundreds of thousands, it would have been financially impossible to offer the experience of No Man's Sky that the players adore today.
No Man's Sky had a very bad start. But what started as an excellent example of too high promises and too much exaggeration, became one of the biggest and fun adventures in the panorama of modern games thanks to the arduous work of the developers.
