Good ... I was the first not to be convinced by the 120 fps and ... Well, I decided to embark on this adventure, buying a Konix Drakkar Freyja, a cheap gaming screen!
Hop, 209 €, a 165 Hz screen (which I even thought Fake LOL kind 144 Hz walking in 165 Hz in 720p) with a response time of 1 ms and ... it's gone!
If you have a good screen 60 Hz, no need to switch to 120 Hz, especially if you have a "big" Xbox Series X or PS5 type console: you probably appreciate the details in 4K / ray Tracing, and switch to 120 fps you will make a lot of details in terms of graphics and image definition, to multiply by 2 (see 4) the number of images per second broadcast by your console ...
Now as part of the Xbox Series S, Well ...
It works wonderfully. It's even crazy. Fortnite / Eternal / Ori and The Will of the Wisps / Unrly Heroes, all these games work in native resolution of the slab (1080p) and 120 fps - and finally, the perfectly well carved console for this kind of screen, this which would be more complicated on a 1440p screen that I recommend less for this kind of use, especially on 24 inches ... but be sure that on 27 ", you will not be able to override, because this screen size is, to my Gout, too big to have a good resolution with a definition of 1920 x 1080!
On the game Dirt 5, on the other hand, my opinion is more mixed. It becomes too "empty" and the 120 fps on a race game bring enough "little" to the gaming experience to justify such a sacrifice in terms of atmosphere and graphics, apart from the esport or curiosity ...
That said, even if you have an Xbox Series S, I do not necessarily recommend buying a 120 Hz screen replacing a good 60 Hz screen. The difference between 60 fps and 120 fps is still much lower than between 60 fps and 30 fps. But above all, the type of game you play a lot about the interest of this frequency, impressive on an eternal doom or a fortnite, nicely pleasant on an Ori and the Will of Whisp, but so anecdotal on a dirt 5 ... to you to have to.
In any case, it was super funny to discover all this in peace because until then, I had just been entitled to 10/15 minutes test sessions on 240 Hz screens on oversized PCs in exhibitions From video games on Overwatch during competitions, and ... I must admit that I had never really been able to gauge the contribution of this FPS deluge!
